Top 20 Best Camping Tents for Glamping in 2019

This post was most recently updated on March 21st, 2019

Choosing which tent to buy is one of the most important decisions you’ll make when glamping. The best tents for glamping are those which meet every demand you could possibly make of a tent.

This tent buying guide is related to glamping. Therefor, it is primarily focused on one concept; comfort. We are looking for the tents which offer the best comfort and features for the ultimate glamping experience.

What You Should Be Looking For in the Best Camping Tents of 2019

Space

The first aspect we are looking for in the best camping tents is space. Having a lot of extra room goes a long way to creating a comfortable state of mind.

However, many people you are going to have in a tent, you want at least twice the amount of space. I.E: if you have four people sleeping in a tent, then you want at least an 8-person tent. Trust me, too much space is better than too little.

Weather Resistance

There aren’t many places you can go camping which have no risk of bad weather. A slight risk of rain or wind is always present. If you’re going winter camping, then the risk is even higher.

The best camping tents are those which withstand the elements. That means they are water and tear resistant. They should be sturdy construction and built from hardy materials. A tent that caves in or flies away in a storm is worthless.

Set-Up Difficulty

There’s many tents these days which take less than five minutes to set up. This means more time for you and your family to enjoy yourselves.

Also, the stress of setting up a complicated tent has been known to strain even the strongest friendships. The best camping tents will have features to mitigate these factors.

Special Features

Bells and whistles; we want them all. I want all the airflow vents, storage compartments, and changing rooms available. Damn right I want a tent with a porch. I’m glamping, and I want to feel like it.

Last Minute Tips

A tent is an investment, and probably the biggest you’ll make before camping. Don’t feel bad when you’re spending a large amount on the tent of your dreams. The best camping tents don’t come cheap, but they will last longer and serve you better.

Also, some tents work better for different locations and climates. Keep that in mind when buying a tent. Where you camp makes a big difference in which is the best camping tent for you.

The Kodiak Canvas Flex-Bow Deluxe 8-Person Tent is one of the best camping tents in 2019, and one of the best for glamping. It’s truly a four-season tent, with great ventilation and window options, and a heavy-duty canvas material.

The walls of this tent are just slightly slanted, so getting things from the bottom corners can be awkward. Also, due to the heavy-duty steel poles, this tent is much heavier than others of its size.

If you are looking for a great tent for individuals or couples, the Kodiak Canvas Flex-Bow Deluxe 8-Person Tent is a great option.

Big Agnes Big House Review Tent Review Glamp Queen Best Camping Tents of 2019 for Glampers

The Big House is one of the best camping tents for solo adventurers, because it is light and easy for one person to set up. It is a sturdy three season tent, but probably won’t hold up to heavy snow.

This tent has a lot of pockets for storage, and a convenient two-door design. It’s ultimately designed to be an easy tent for weekend campers.

The North Face Wawona 6 is a high-quality tent for casual campers who want to invest in something that will last. It’s built to last, and the entrance has a convenient covering to allow for airflow without letting rain in.

This isn’t the best camping tent for winter camping. You won’t want to use this tent in temperatures below freezing. This tent is much better for weekend camping trips in the summer.

Now we’re glamping. The Coleman Elite WeatherMaster 6 is a great tent for couples glamping retreats. It is large, has built in lighting, and a screened area for morning coffee.

The zippers and window coverings on this tent leave a bit to be desired. Also, it takes a couple a while to set it up. However, once you have it up, this tent will be a great sanctuary for glamping couples.

Kodiak Canvas 12×9 Cabin Tent

Positives

  • Advanced Waterproofing
  • Very Spacious
  • Built Tough

Negatives

  • Difficult Setup
  • Very Heavy
Best Camping Tents for Glamping 2019 Best Camping Tents 2019

Kodiak tents are some of the best camping tents for glampers. They are amazingly weatherproof, and they are built with the customer in mind.

The cabin tent is everything their flex-bow series is, just larger. Even though there’s only one room, pairs will easily be able to divide the space in this tent.

It is heavy, at almost 90 lbs. It is also a two-person job to set up. But once you’ve gotten it set up, this tent will stay up through storms and blizzards. It’s probably the best camping tent for bad weather on this whole list.

North Face 2-Meter Dome

Positives

  • Extremely Spacious
  • Built for Expeditions
  • Looks Cool

Negatives

  • Very Expensive

So, lets get it out of the way; this tent is super expensive. It’s not for your average camper. This tent is meant to be basecamp for expeditions.

However, if the price is the only drawback, then it must be a pretty awesome tent.

This thing is awesome in its simplicity. It is open and spacious and being inside feels like being in a clubhouse. You also have the peace at mind of knowing the elements can’t get to you. To some, that’s worth the price of admission.

Cabela’s Instinct Alaskan Guide 8-Person

Positives

  • Maximum Storage
  • Holds Up to Wind
  • Fully Covered

Negatives

  • Two-Person Setup
Best Camping Tents for Glamping 2019 Best Camping Tents 2019

Cabela’s Instinct Alaskan Guide 8 Person tent is a great tent for couples and even families. It features a great tent cover which creates a complete barrier from the outside elements. This tent is well known for holding up to high winds. If you buy this tent, you’ll need two people to set up the long, sturdy aluminum poles. It’s one of the best camping tents for windy areas.

Coleman 6 Person Instant Tent

Positives

  • Instant Setup
  • Dark Interior
  • Room for 2 Queen Beds

Negatives

  • Leaky Windows
Best Camping Tents for Glamping 2019 Best Camping Tents 2019

Coleman has a line of tents that take all the guesswork out of setup. These instant tents take one person about a minute to set up. It doesn’t get any easier than that.

This tent has a dark interior and enough room for two queen beds. For glampers, this means a queen bed and all your stuff.

The biggest complaint users have about this tent is weatherproofing. The rain sleeve doesn’t do much to keep rain out, so if you want to be dry, you’ll need to close all the windows. That makes it stuffy really quick.

Besides that, it’s a great tent. They even make a 10-person version for even more breathing space.

Cabela’s West Wind 8-Person Dome Tent

Positives

  • Vestibule
  • Spacious
  • Cabela’s Quality

Negatives

  • Not as Big as You’d Expect

Cabela’s makes some amazing tents. In particular, their design seems to stand up better to wind and rain than others. And, the West Wind is one of the best camping tents Cabela’s offers.

Although it’s nowhere near what I’d consider big enough for 8 people, this is the size I recommend for couples. There’s room for a queen mattress, a couple chairs, and all your clothes. This tent can be set up nicer than some apartments. Also, the outdoor vestibule is a great spot to stash your gear that can get a little wet, like a cooler.

Wenzel 8 Person Klondike Tent

Positives

  • Screened Porch
  • Spacious Interior

Negatives

  • Cheap Stakes and Poles
Best Camping Tents for Glamping 2019 Best Camping Tents 2019

The Wenzel 8-Person Klondike Tent is much closer to a 5 person in size. However, it is a very nice tent for a couple who want to be comfortable during their camping trip.

Its setup is easy and intuitive, and the screened porch is a nice place to hang out. Unfortunately, the poles are on the weaker side, and the stakes are made from cheap plastic, but it’s still a very solid tent. It’s one of the best camping tents for someone on a tight budget.

Family Size

Ozark Trail 12-Person Cabin

Positives

Three Rooms

Electric Cable Access

Cabin Setup

Negatives

All or Nothing Pole Construction

Best Camping Tents for Glamping 2019 Best Camping Tents 2019

The Ozark Trail is a fantastic quality tent for families on a budget. I don’t know if I’d want twelve people in there, but I’d definitely sleep six. Four, even better.

The separate sections make this a great tent for families. Parents in one room, kids in another, and a changing/storage room left over. There’s electric cable access to charge electronics, and it really feels like staying in a cabin.

One caveat is to take good care of the poles. They are very unique, and if they break, you’re up a creek.

Northwest Territory 10-Person Cabin Tent

Positives

  • Huge
  • Great for Warm Weather

Negatives

  • Not Great for Winter or Rain
Best Camping Tents for Glamping 2019 Best Camping Tents 2019

This Northwest Territory tent is very popular, but hard to find. It seems like it’s licensed out under different branding. Whoever owns it, it’s an awesome tent.

This is another tent that feels like a cabin. Great space, great porch, and great windows. This is an awesome tent for hot summer nights, as it’s very breezy.

This isn’t the best camping tent for rain or snow. It’s meant to be used in warmer climates. But on cool summer nights, it’s a dream.

Coleman 10-Person Dark Room Instant Tent

Positives

  • Instant Setup
  • Black Out Interior
  • Separate Spaces

Negatives

  • Leaks Around Zippers
Best Camping Tents for Glamping 2019 Best Camping Tents 2019

This is another great tent from Coleman’s Instant Tent series. It has the common problems we’ve seen from Coleman; leaking and breathability. However, it is more than made up for with the ease of setup and the light blocking features.

This is a great tent for couples or families. There’s plenty of room for everyone to have a cot and nobody to sleep on top of each other.

Crua Loj 6-person Thermo Insulated Waterproof Family Tent

Positives

  • Four Seasons
  • Black Out Interior
  • Space and Insulation
  • Survivalist

Negatives

  • Complicated Setup

The Crua Loj 6-person Thermo Insulated Waterproof Family Tent is the closest I’ve ever seen to “the last tent you’ll ever own.” It hits pretty much everything you’d ever want from a tent.

It is insulated, dark, quiet, and sturdy. It will hold up to blizzards, monsoons, and desert heat. While it’s difficult to set up, it offers space for everyone in the family with room to breathe.

This is truly one of the best camping tents I’ve used, bar none.

Cabela’s Ultimate Alaknak

Positives

  • Space for Stove
  • Insane Space
  • Built for Elements

Negatives

  • Too Much for Some Glampers

This thing is more of a mess hall than a tent. It’s cabin style to the first degree.

This tent has room for a camp stove and flume, and at least 10 people comfortably. Honestly, you could set this tent up and leave it year-round. It’s built to stand up to anything. Because of that, it’s more than many campers are ready for.

If it’s too much, Cabela’s does make a smaller version of the tent.

Yurts

Dream House Luxury Outdoor Yurt

Positives

  • Spacious Yurt Style
  • Extreme Height
  • Advanced Waterproofing

Negatives

  • No UV Protection
Best Camping Tents for Glamping 2019 Best Camping Tents 2019

God, I love yurts. They offer a ton of space, room for a stove, and it feels like a circus tent.

This yurt has a tall center pole, offering a lot of headroom. It’s spacious and waterproof and is made of a strong canvas material. Some users have complained about how the fabric holds up in the desert, but, at this price point, you can’t expect perfection.

Lotus Belle Hybrid Deluxe Tent

Positives

  • Convex Walls
  • Great Ventilation
  • Temperature Control

Negatives

  • Not Winter Built

This is another Yurt style tent I feel like I could live in. Well, not in Minnesota, but in California, no problem.

This Yurt is built with space and breathability in mind. This is one of the best camping tents in terms of space, because of the convex wall design. The walls bulge outward, which gives an even better feeling of space inside. It also is great at creating cross breezes and controlling the internal temperature.

White Duck Outdoors Avalon Canvas Bell Tent

Positives

  • Colorfast
  • Tear Resistant
  • Weatherproof

Negatives

  • Often Out of Stock
Best Camping Tents for Glamping 2019 Best Camping Tents 2019

The White Duck Outdoors Avalon Canvas Bell Tent is so great you can barely ever find it in stock. As soon as it’s available, it sells until it’s out again. That’s the hallmark of a great product.

This tent is somewhat like a cross between a yurt and a cabin style tent. The cabin walls offer space and structure, so it will withstand weather better than other yurts. It’s also made of a better fabric, so it won’t tear or be ruined by sunlight.

Danchel Cotton Bell Tent

Positives

  • 20 Foot Diameter
  • Semi-Permanent Living Space

Negatives

  • Beware of UV
Best Camping Tents for Glamping 2019 Best Camping Tents 2019

This tent is very similar to the Dream House Yurt mentioned earlier. While there are still problems in areas of extreme sunlight, this tent is meant more for colder climates. And, again, some people live in this thing year-round.

This is one of the best camping tents for extended trips or survivalist expeditions. There’s room for cots and a stove and anything else you could want to stuff in there. And, as I said before, sleeping in a circus tent is the most fun ever.

Last Minute Tips

Put a tarp under your tent. It keeps your tent clean and adds an extra layer of protection from water and insects.

Set up your tent in your back yard before you go camping. This will get you used to the setup routine and allow you to identify any possible problems.

Spray your tent with sealer. You can get protective spray for your tent that will keep out water and bugs. It’s also pretty cheap.
